This site exists as a way of keeping students in year 10 aware of lists of words to learn for spelling tests. Students just need to check the blog each week to find a new list of words which they will then be tested on in class.
Sometimes we make mistakes copying the words down and we end up learning mis-spelt words. Avoid this problem by highlighting the word lists and copying them into a word document.
When learning remember to... look up the word; cover it up; write it up; check it again.
Learn as many rules about spelling as possible (see the list at the bottom of this page).
Use mnemonics or memory tricks.
Get a friend or parent to check.
Play word games (crosswords or the number-plate game).
Keep reading as this will increase your exposure to a wide range of vocabulary.
